In Blankenberge, when you think of Ascension weekend, you think of the Harbour festivities. Join us from 9 through 12 May for this years edition of this folkloric, maritime celebration. The four-day event offers a mix of unique sailing vessels, musical performances, fishermens crafts, delicious fish dishes, folklore, and entertainment.

Sail 2024
A richly varied collection of authentic sailing ships from France, the Netherlands and Belgium converge on the Blankenberge harbour. Just stroll along the pontoon to admire them from close up.
Askoy II maiden voyage
The sailing yacht Askoy II, on which singer and actor Jacques Brel once made a world tour, has been officially recognised as part of our sailing heritage. On Thursday, 9 May 2024, this sailing yacht will make her maiden voyage from the shipyard to the Blankenberge harbour.
North Sea Folk & Shanty Festival
For two whole days, Blankenberge will become the mecca of nautical music. A must for all folk and shanty fans!
On the programme: Wylde water (GB), Cent z'Escale (FR), Triple Sec (B), Black Deep Shanty Crew (GB), Stuurloos (NL), Shanty choir Blankenberge (B), Mutiny Kantje Boord (NL), Bully Boys (B), Kaapstaander (NL), Boreas (B), Donder in 't Hooi (B), folk group FAB (B) and West Zuidwest (NL).
Lifeboat reunion
At 2 p.m. on Saturday, 11 May 2024, several lifeboats will demonstrate their prowess at the harbour. The brand-new Blankenberge Volunteer Sea Rescue Service (VBZR) boat will also be there.
