Carnival 2024: temporary traffic restrictions

On Sunday 11 February 2024, the carnival parade will pass through the city centre streets between 2.30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Some traffic restrictions will apply on that day to ensure traffic safety.

Parade track

  • Start: 2.30 p.m.
  • End: 5 p.m.

Track: Koning Albert-I-laan - Koning Leopold III-plein - Kerkstraat - Vissersstraat - Weststraat - Franchommelaan - Leopoldstraat - Consciencestraat - P. Benoitstraat - Grote Markt.

Construction of the parade will take place from 10 a.m. on J. Vandeputtelaan, between Koning Boudewijnlaan and Koning Albert I-laan.

Closed streets

On 11 February, the following streets will be closed to all traffic between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.:

  • J. Vandeputtelaan
  • Koning Boudewijnlaan, between Mgr Waffelaertlaan and J. Vandeputtelaan
  • J. Van Paemelstraat
  • L. Van Sluysstraat
  • Ponjaertstraat and Vuurkruisenstraat are therefore inaccessible to traffic.

During the procession's passage between 2.30 p.m. and 5 p.m., all streets forming part of the route will be completely or partially closed to all traffic.

Parking ban

On 11 February, parking will be prohibited on the following streets between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.:

  • J. Vandeputtelaan
  • Koning Boudewijnlaan, between Mgr. Waffelaertlaan and J. Vandeputtelaan

On 11 February, parking is prohibited between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the following streets:

  • Weststraat, between Vissersstraat and Franchommelaan
  • Franchommelaan, between Weststraat and Leopoldstraat
  • Leopoldstraat
  • Consciencestraat
  • P. Benoitstraat
  • Grote Markt
  • Notebaertstraat
