Temporary exhibition: belle époque through the lens

The temporary exhibition ‘belle époque through the lens’ puts photography in the spotlight. The expo runs from 5 October 2024 to 27 July 2025 at the Belle Epoque Centre.

Photography is available to everyone today. We no longer dwell on it: just take out your smartphone and ‘click’ you have captured something digitally on film. Everyone is a photographer. But how did it all actually start? Photography developed rapidly in the 19th century. Initially, a photo camera was only for professional use, for the photographer in his studio. But soon you could also work at home with your own portable camera with film reel. In the temporary exhibition ‘belle époque through the lens’ you will discover how photography became all the rage from the belle époque onwards.
