During the winter months, the Uitkerkse Polder is bursting at the seams with bird life. Many thousands of geese, who spent the summer breeding season in the far arctic north, come in winter to feast on the nutritious grass they find in the vast meadows. You will find imposing flocks of kola geese, barnacle geese and pink-footed geese all over the wide area. For the latter, the Belgian coastal polders are one of the most important wintering areas in the world. Up to 10% of the estimated world population spends the winter here!
The mini-expo will give you a nice overview of all our winter visitors. Come and have a look! The expo will run from 24 November 2025 to 4 January 2026.
