Topevents in 2023

During the weekend of 3 and 4 June 2023, trade community Uitkerke is unpacking the new event Uitopia.

The new young herrings are brought ashore by one of the heritage boats. Once ashore, the feast will be feasting and the party can begin. The Shanty Choir will provide the necessary musical accompaniment.

The Lotto Belgium Tour will once again be a guest in Blankenberge on Friday 16th of June. The stage starts at 1 p.m. on the Koning Leopold III-plein and goes from Blankenberge to Dudzele. The riders will cover a total of 123 km.

The temporary exhibition 'Cycling through the belle époque' will run from 1 October 2022 to 18 June 2023 at the Belle Epoque Centre. This time, 'the bicycle' is in the spotlight. Why did bicycles have a small and large wheel? What did the first bicycle races look like? And did you know that the bicycle also promoted women's emancipation?

Flags and banners have always played an important role. As the association's signboard, they coloured the streets at festivals and parades. At funerals, flags were carried along as a tribute to the deceased member. The tradition of association flags fell into disuse. Today, association flags have become heritage. High time to unpack them in a new exhibition.

The start of Uitopia is 'Voiture contre Nature': how nature conquers all when left behind by man. In this street art project around the Sint-Amandus church, artist Wietse transforms car wrecks into green and flowering works of art with the help of the greenery department.

The Sportzot North Sea swim challenge, a swimming race at sea from Blankenberge to Zeebrugge. This year, the race will take place on Saturday 8 July 2023 from 6 p.m. onwards. Registration is possible from 3 April.

The ten most popular songs will then compete for the title 'Zomerhit 2023', to be followed live on Eén and VRT MAX. This year, Siska Schoeters and Niels Destadsbader will also take you in tow.

On Wednesday 23 August, the first stage of the Renewi Tour starts in Blankenberge. After the start on the Market Square, the riders will first ride a local loop with intermediate sprint at the start location.
